چکیده

In this paper, we present results from detection of coherent scatterers in nonurban areas, using polarimetric SAR data from the airborne EMISAR and the spaceborne ALOS PALSAR instrument. By applying a signal-toclutter ratio test for coherent point targets, we show that by using polarimetric information in the Pauli decomposition, we increase the number of detected targets by a factor of two compared to using only a single polarization. A preliminary classification into elementary scattering mechanisms using the Cameron symmetric scatterer decomposition is also reported.

Coherent vs. Persistent Scatterers: A Case Study

In this paper a comparison between two typologies of point-like scatterers in SAR images, named Persistent Scatterers (PSs) and Coherent Scatterers (CSs) is proposed. The PSs are detected through the analysis of large stack of data, implying their temporal stability, and have been principally used for SAR interferometric applications. Differently, CSs are detected in single SAR images through t...

Detection of the Coherent Scatterers using Sub-Aperture Polarimetric SAR data: the Preliminary Results

The objective of this paper is to assess the sub-aperture analysis technique for the detection of coherent scatterers (CSs) using polarimetric SAR data. The non normalized coherence is used to greatly improve the contrast between the clutter and the target, since it can preserve the strong intensity information of the target. Furthermore, by applying a way similar to the polarimetric interferom...

ADVANCED CONCEPTS IN POLARIMETRY – PART 1 (Polarimetric Target Description, Speckle filtering and Decomposition Theorems)

There is currently a great deal of interest in the use of polarimetry for radar remote sensing. In this context, different and important objectives are to classify Earth terrain components within a fully polarimetric SAR image and then extract physical information from the observed scattering of microwaves by surface and volume structures. The most important observable measured by such radar sy...

Polarimetric Characteristics of Fully Polarization Sar Image Observed by Ground-based Sar System

Ground-Based SAR system that obtains a high resolution 2D image on the ground is a new type of SAR system such as air-borne and space-borne SAR. The measured fully polarimetric SAR images with HH, HV, VH, and VV were focused using the Deramp-FFT (DF) algorithm in terms of their image formation principles. SAR polarimetry technique is concerned with control of the polarimetric properties of rada...

Multi-baseline Pol-InSAR Forest Height Estimation in the pres- ence of temporal decorrleation

Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Interferometry (Pol-InSAR) is a radar remote sensing technique, based on the coherent combination of radar polarimetry (Pol-SAR) and SAR interferometry (InSAR) which is substantially more sensitive to structural parameters of forest volume scatterers (e.g. forest) than conventional interferometry or polarimetry alone. However, temporal decorrelation i...
